About Us
About SSGDR
SSGDR is a 501c3 nonprofit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Tennessee.
SSGDR is owned and operated by a Board of Directors and a dedicated group of volunteers.
We are foster-home based, with foster homes located in the Southeastern part of the United States.
Our Mission
We are a breed specific rescue organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of great danes. We provide safe foster homes, seek the best medical care for them and ultimately place danes in loving homes. We evaluate each Dane and potential family to ensure that placements are the best match for the dog and they find their forever home.
Our Goal
To be advocates for danes in need. To educate the public on the unique needs and medical conditions of this amazing breed. We strive to emphasize the importance of spay/neuter, vaccinations and flea/tick and heartworm prevention for all dogs.
We encourage others to advocate for dogs in need as well. Report signs of abuse or neglect to your local authorities and volunteer at your local rescue or shelter.
Our Process
Individuals wanting to foster or adopt must go through the same procedure. The standards are the same for both and the process can take up to 30 days to complete. It involves the following:
- Application
- Phone Interview with board members
- Personal Reference Checks
- Vet Reference Checks
- Home Visit
Note: Approval or Denial of the applicant is based on the findings of each of the above steps.
Our Fees
SSGDR does not profit from adoption fees. All proceeds from adoption fees are applied directly to the care of our rescue Danes. All Danes are microchipped, spayed or neutered and up to date on shots and preventatives prior to their adoption.
Fees for special needs cases are determined on a case by case basis.
